Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the TypeSwitcher application for macOS and Windows ("TypeSwitcher", "the app") handles your information. It applies to versions distributed through the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and direct download from typeswitcher.com.

Your typed text stays on your computer

TypeSwitcher is built to be privacy-first. All typed-text processing happens locally on your computer. The text you type and your keystrokes arenever sent to any server, logged or saved. The undo history used to revert a correction is kept only in memory and is discarded automatically. There is no cloud synchronization, account to create or sign-in.

What the app does

TypeSwitcher detects words that were typed in the wrong keyboard layout (English, Ukrainian and Russian) and lets you correct them — either the selected text or the word you just typed — by replacing the wrong text with the correct version directly in the active text field. All of this conversion happens on your device.

System access on macOS and Windows

macOS: TypeSwitcher requires Accessibility permission to observe keyboard input and replace a corrected word in the active field. The permission is used only for these purposes, and all processing remains local. You can review or revoke it at any time inSystem Settings > Privacy & Security.

Windows: TypeSwitcher does not require system permissions. It uses the standard Windows global keyboard hook to detect a word typed in the wrong layout and replace it. All processing remains local.

What TypeSwitcher does not do

• No keystroke diary or log of what you type.
• No clipboard history.
• No telemetry, analytics or advertising SDKs.
• No cloud sync and no remote text processing.

What is stored locally

Only the following is stored locally on your computer, never on our servers:

• Your settings and preferences.
• Your correction dictionary, including learned word pairs and the list of words never to correct.
• Your list of excluded applications.

Undo history is kept only in memory. You can remove locally stored data usingReset Settings in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its local data.

Network connections

TypeSwitcher makes only the following network connections. None of them transmit the text you type or select.

• Update checks (direct-download versions only). Versions downloaded directly from our website use Sparkle on macOS and WinSparkle on Windows to make a standard request for an appcast file hosted on our update servers (typeswitcher.com; older versions use dsoftdigital.com). Mac App Store and Microsoft Store versions have no built-in update check; updates are delivered by the respective store.
• Feedback (only when you explicitly submit it). The feedback form sends your message, the feedback type, an optional email address, the app version, operating system version, architecture and system locale. It never sends text you type in other applications.

Children

TypeSwitcher is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not collect or transmit text typed in other applications. Feedback information is sent only when a user explicitly submits the form, as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
